Hyderabad: The IDEA website launch took place at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University on Wednesday, with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani unveiling the official portal of the Indian Distance Education Association.
Prof. Chakrapani launched the website ideaindia.net at the university campus. The new platform will serve as the official digital presence of the Indian Distance Education Association (IDEA).
During the event, Prof. Chakrapani also announced a national academic conference on open and distance learning. The university will host the event in collaboration with IDEA.
The two-day conference will focus on the theme “Beyond Boundaries: The New ODL Landscape”. It is scheduled to take place on March 25 and 26, 2026.
Officials said the conference aims to discuss emerging developments in the Open and Distance Learning system. The gathering will bring together experts and academics working in the field of distance education.

The IDEA website launch event also brought together senior members of the Indian Distance Education Association.
IDEA President Prof. K. Seetharama Rao attended the programme along with Secretary General Dr. L.V.K. Reddy. Vice-President Prof. S. Jeelani and Secretary Prof. Mushtaq Ahmed also participated in the event.
University officials said the conference will provide a platform for discussion on the evolving landscape of open and distance education.
They noted that the IDEA website launch would help strengthen communication and collaboration among institutions and scholars working in distance education.
The organisers expect the upcoming national conference to address academic innovation, policy developments, and institutional practices in the Open and Distance Learning sector.
