Hyderabad: Several parts of Hyderabad experienced intense thunderstorms on Monday night, bringing with them heavy rain, gusty winds, thunder, and lightning. The sudden downpour disrupted normal life in areas such as Secunderabad, Chilakalguda, Begumpet, Alwal, Boinpally, Tirumalagiri, Maredpally, Kapra, Kushaiguda, Nagaram, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Ameerpet, and Sanathnagar.
Commuters were caught off guard by the sharp spell of rain, which led to waterlogging and traffic snarls in multiple localities. The high-velocity winds and continuous lightning added to the chaotic scenes across the city during peak evening hours.
In its latest forecast, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rainfall across Telangana for the next five days. Hyderabad is likely to continue witnessing scattered showers, while certain districts may see more severe weather conditions, including hailstorms.
The IMD has issued both orange and yellow alerts for several regions, cautioning residents and local authorities to remain vigilant. The weather office has urged citizens to take necessary precautions, especially in areas prone to waterlogging and low visibility during storms.
With a combination of pre-monsoon instability and active weather systems over the region, the IMD expects the unseasonal weather to persist, potentially impacting daily routines and local events throughout the state.
