Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police have issued a public advisory warning citizens against romance scams ahead of Valentine’s Day.

The Commissioner listed common red flags linked to romance scams. These include sudden declarations of love, dramatic overseas job stories, and fake emergencies.

He also warned that fraudsters often try to isolate victims from friends and family. Such tactics aim to create urgency and extract money.

Hyderabad Police advised citizens never to send money, cryptocurrency, gift cards or personal details to someone they have not met in person. They stressed that victims should refuse requests related to visa issues, medical emergencies, or parcels allegedly stuck at customs.

The Commissioner encouraged people to consult trusted friends or family members if they feel unsure. He reminded citizens that genuine relationships take time, but scammers rush conversations to secure payments.

Police reiterated that cybercrime units remain alert and urged the public to report suspicious activity immediately.
