Hyderabad: Hyderabad is rapidly emerging as a leading hub in India’s aluminium extrusion industry. Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are fueling this rise through strategic investments and increased export activity, according to speakers at the ALUMEX India 2025 roadshow held on Wednesday.
Jitendra Chopra, President of the Aluminium Extrusion Manufacturers Association of India (ALEMAI), said both Telugu states are shaping southern India into a key manufacturing corridor. “Hyderabad leads the sector. These states are addressing local needs and contributing to exports,” he noted.
Anil Agarwal, Managing Director of Global Aluminium, cited growing industrial demand and regional momentum as critical for India’s self-reliance. He also warned about challenges high energy costs, volatile raw material prices, import reliance, and regulatory pressure.
ALUMEX India 2025 aims to highlight this growth. The event runs from September 10 to 13 in New Delhi and will feature over 200 exhibitors. Organised by ALEMAI with backing from Hindalco, Vedanta, and JNARDDC, the show will bring together more than 12,000 industry stakeholders.
India’s aluminium extrusion market reached $3.51 billion in 2024. Projections show it may rise to $4.61 billion by 2030, with a CAGR of 4.5%. Although North India currently dominates capacity, the south is catching up driven by smart cities, EV projects, and solar infrastructure.
The country has an installed capacity of 3 million tonnes. However, domestic usage stands at only 1.5 million tonnes, with imports filling the gap. Agarwal urged manufacturers to push local consumption and scale exports to offset trade barriers like the Trump Tariff.
