Hyderabad to become high-speed rail hub with three bullet train corridors

Hyderabad: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy said Hyderabad is set to emerge as a high-speed rail hub, with three bullet train corridors proposed from Shamshabad.

Posting on X, he said the corridors would connect Hyderabad to Bengaluru, Chennai, and Pune. As a result, travel time to these cities would drop to less than three hours.

In the latest Union Budget, the Centre allocated a record ₹5,454 crore for railway infrastructure in Telangana. This amount, he said, was nearly six times higher than the average allocation before 2014. At present, railway projects worth ₹47,984 crore are under execution in the state. Meanwhile, electrification of railway lines across Telangana has reached 100%.

High-speed rail corridors to boost connectivity and growth

According to Kishan Reddy, the proposed high-speed rail corridors would strengthen regional connectivity. In addition, the projects would position Hyderabad as a major transport and logistics centre.

He said the new corridors would also support job creation across multiple sectors. At the same time, they would contribute to long-term economic growth in Telangana and neighbouring states.

The minister added that sustained central investment in railway infrastructure would improve mobility. Therefore, he said, the projects would play a key role in the state’s future development.
