Hyderabad GCC destination gains traction as PICO explores centre

Hyderabad: Telangana IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said Hyderabad was emerging as a preferred base for Global Capability Centres. He added that leading global financial institutions were choosing the city for new investments. He made the remarks after representatives of PICO Technology met him at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat on Saturday.

According to the Minister, the Hyderabad GCC destination was strengthening due to skilled talent, strong infrastructure, and smooth connectivity. He also cited lower congestion and affordable rentals as key advantages. These factors, he said, were drawing global firms.

Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy also attended the meeting. PICO Technology, which provides services to financial markets, expressed interest in setting up a GCC in Hyderabad through its subsidiary, PICO Technology India. During the interaction, Sridhar Babu outlined the city’s infrastructure and investment opportunities.

Hyderabad GCC destination backed by infrastructure plans

Sridhar Babu said the government was implementing long-term infrastructure plans. These plans, he explained, would meet needs over the next five to 10 years. In addition, they were designed to support growth for the next 20 years.

He said the city’s talent pool continued to attract major companies. Moreover, world-class infrastructure added to its appeal. He noted that improved road connectivity reduced travel time across the city. At the same time, lower congestion and competitive rentals supported expansion decisions.

The Minister said Hyderabad’s office space occupancy stood at 73 per cent. In contrast, Mumbai recorded 52 per cent occupancy. He said these figures reflected Hyderabad’s rising commercial demand. Therefore, global firms were increasingly considering the city for expansion.

Hyderabad GCC destination benefits from metro shift

Sridhar Babu said congestion and pollution in cities such as Bengaluru and Mumbai were influencing company decisions. As a result, several IT firms and GCCs were shifting to Hyderabad. He said this trend was strengthening the Hyderabad GCC destination further.

He added that companies were seeking stable and efficient urban environments. Consequently, Hyderabad was gaining preference among global investors.

The meeting was attended by PICO Technology Founder and CEO Jarrod Yuster, PICO India CEO Hari Kothandaraman, director Sitaram and others. Discussions focused on the company’s proposal to establish a GCC and the facilities available to support it.
