Hyderabad decline under Revanth Reddy, alleges KTR

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president K.T. Rama Rao on Saturday alleged that Hyderabad had been pushed into decline over the past two years due to what he described as corruption and administrative failure under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

Addressing party leaders at a detailed review meeting in the city, KTR accused the Congress government of damaging Hyderabad across sectors. He alleged that corruption, irregularities and real estate-driven policies had led to the Hyderabad decline under Revanth Reddy.

According to him, civic services had deteriorated sharply. He cited sanitation problems and public transport issues. In addition, he pointed to industrial slowdown and declining business activity in the city.

Hyderabad decline under Revanth Reddy linked to land policies

KTR alleged that the Chief Minister prioritised financial and real estate interests over governance. He claimed that land-related irregularities had surfaced under initiatives such as ‘HYDRAA’, TDR and the proposed Fourth City projects.

He further alleged that the administration targeted land in Hyderabad for illegal gains. Consequently, he said the city’s economic engine had weakened. He claimed that real estate activities had overshadowed infrastructure and civic planning.

The BRS leader stated that power cuts, drinking water shortages and sanitation lapses had resurfaced. He added that mosquito control measures had weakened. According to him, such issues were not prevalent a decade ago.

KTR accused the Chief Minister of promoting a “Future City” narrative for personal benefit. He alleged that existing Hyderabad was being ignored while new real estate projects were highlighted.

Hyderabad decline under Revanth Reddy discussed at review meet

Recalling the previous BRS tenure, KTR said the city was developed into an international metro under the leadership of K. Chandrashekar Rao. KTR said uninterrupted power supply, improved drinking water access and better sanitation were ensured during that period.

He also noted that the party won the mayor’s post twice in the state capital. He claimed that the BRS had strengthened the city’s infrastructure and economic growth over ten years.

During the meeting, KTR discussed future political strategy and issues to be raised in the Assembly regarding the city. He directed leaders on organisational mobilisation against the government.

MLC Dasoju Shravan and former MLC Karne Prabhakar were assigned coordination responsibilities for GHMC activities. MLC Shambipur Raju was given charge of Malkajgiri Corporation affairs, while MLC Pochampally Srinivas Reddy was tasked with overseeing coordination in the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation.
