Hyderabad DCC chief backs minority scholarship and documentation efforts

Hyderabad: Hyderabad District Congress Committee President Syed Khalid Saifullah has extended political support to minority-focused education and documentation initiatives. He said such efforts are vital for the socio-economic empowerment of underrepresented communities in Telangana.

He was speaking at the launch of a Scholarship Helpline and Consultation Programme organised by ASEEM, a Hyderabad-based NGO, at FTCCI, Lakdikapul. The initiative aims to improve access to government entitlements through legal guidance, scholarship assistance, and documentation corrections.

Saifullah offers DCC network for on-ground assistance

Saifullah clarified that he lacks administrative powers to approve welfare schemes. However, he pledged to use his political position to push for community demands. “You don’t get what you deserve; you get what you negotiate,” he remarked, urging leaders to build political pressure.

He welcomed proposals to conduct documentation drives in Karimnagar and Nizamabad. These, he said, are essential for enabling access to central and state schemes. He also offered to connect ASEEM with key ministers and officials and assured his participation in follow-ups.

To support field-level action, Saifullah proposed leveraging the Congress network in Hyderabad’s five Assembly segments—Charminar, Bahadurpura, Yakutpura, Malakpet, and Chandrayangutta. These include 44 municipal divisions and 1,500 polling booths. He offered to train party workers to assist with outreach and documentation.

“Our office in Hyderabad will be available to you,” he said. “If you train our workers, they will help people on the ground.” He further promised technical support, including the creation of digital tools, if needed.

The event marked a significant step in ASEEM’s work to help minority communities claim their rights through advocacy, legal aid, and direct engagement with institutions.
