Hyderabad CP praises interfaith bond in orphaned children’s wedding

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar praised an inspiring interfaith bond after a Muslim couple raised their late friend’s children and conducted their wedding according to Lingayat traditions.

Sharing a newspaper clipping on social media platform X, Sajjanar described the act as a powerful example of humanity beyond caste and religion. According to him, friendship does not end with death. Instead, it continues through responsibility and compassion.

He highlighted the efforts of Mehboob and Noorjahan, who cared for their deceased friend’s children for nearly 20 years. Not only did they protect and nurture the orphaned children, but they also arranged their marriage following Lingayat customs. As per tradition, the ceremony was conducted in line with the family’s religious practices.

Interfaith bond reflects spirit of communal harmony

Sajjanar stated that religion and caste do not stand in the way of spreading love among people. Rather, he said, humanity must guide social relationships. Therefore, he urged citizens to promote harmony instead of hatred.

Calling it a reflection of India’s cultural strength, he said such gestures strengthen social unity. Moreover, he appealed to society to draw inspiration from such examples and present them as ideals for future generations.

Finally, the police commissioner noted that compassion and mutual respect remain the foundation of communal harmony. Through this interfaith bond, he added, the couple demonstrated the true spirit of coexistence.
