Hyderabad: The HPV vaccine awareness initiative gained momentum after Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha unveiled a wall poster in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
The poster was developed under the aegis of the Allu Arjun Fans Association (AAFA). It aims to promote HPV vaccine awareness through social media campaigns and other outreach channels.
The minister appreciated the social initiatives taken up by fans of actor Allu Arjun. He said such efforts supported public health campaigns and improved awareness among citizens.
He stated that the government was providing the HPV vaccine free of cost. The vaccine offers safe, effective, and long-lasting protection against Human Papillomavirus strains that cause cervical cancer.
HPV vaccine awareness campaign targets children and parents
The minister urged both boys and girls to receive the vaccine without delay. He stressed that HPV vaccine awareness was essential to prevent serious health risks in the future.
He said the vaccine was available in all government hospitals across Telangana. Therefore, access to the vaccine had been ensured for all eligible beneficiaries.
He also appealed to parents to encourage children aged between 9 and 14 to take the vaccine. According to him, early vaccination would provide better protection against cervical cancer.
Officials said the HPV vaccine awareness campaign would use multiple communication platforms. These include social media and public messaging to reach a wider audience.
The minister expressed hope that increased HPV vaccine awareness would lead to higher vaccination coverage. As a result, it would help reduce the incidence of cervical cancer in the state.
He added that collaborative efforts between the government and social groups would strengthen public health initiatives.
