Hyderabad: A house was seized in Hyderabad’s Moosarambagh area after revenue officials acted on a complaint by a 90-year-old woman who was allegedly evicted by her sons.
Shakuntala Bai, who had been living with her sons after the death of her husband, approached the district revenue office in February. She was supported by the Senior Citizens Association.
She alleged that both sons had neglected her and forcibly removed her from the house. Since then, she has been staying with her younger daughter in Saidabad.
The RDO conducted counselling with the sons, who promised to return the property. Despite repeated notices, they failed to vacate the premises.
A final warning was issued by the Saidabad tahsildar earlier this week. When the deadline lapsed, officials visited the property on June 26 and found it locked.
The house was seized in Hyderabad by revenue staff and formally returned to the complainant.
Officials said the action was taken under provisions of the Senior Citizens Act.
