Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court ordered a journalist accreditations extension until April 30, 2026, while hearing writ petitions that challenged G.O. Ms. No. 252 as amended by G.O. 103.
The court passed the direction after recording submissions made by the Special Advocate General. He informed the bench that the State government had decided to temporarily extend the validity of existing accreditation cards by two months. The decision aimed to prevent disruption to the professional engagements of working journalists.
The petitions were filed by the Telangana Urdu Working Journalists’ Federation. The federation questioned the validity of the government orders and sought continuation of accreditation facilities until final adjudication. Advocate Barkat Ali Khan represented the petitioners.
Court records journalist accreditations extension submission
After taking note of the government’s submission, the High Court directed that the present accreditation cards would remain valid until April 30, 2026. As a result, accredited journalists across Telangana can continue to access official events and related facilities without interruption.
The court also granted time to the State to file a detailed counter affidavit. The affidavit must address the challenge raised against G.O. Ms. No. 252 and the amended G.O. 103.
The matter was posted after four weeks. It is likely to be listed for further hearing once the State files its counter. Until then, the journalist accreditations extension will remain in force.
