Hyderabad: Heavy rains continued to lash Telangana this week, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting more wet days ahead. Officials said monsoon activity remained strong even in October, defying seasonal patterns.
Several districts witnessed downpours on Wednesday. The IMD forecast said rain would continue on Thursday as well.
Heavy rains Telangana weather alert covers multiple regions
The department warned that southern and central Telangana could see heavy to very heavy rainfall. Affected districts include Nagarkurnool, Nalgonda, Ranga Reddy, Vikarabad, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Mahabubnagar, Sangareddy, Wanaparthy, Medak, Narayanpet, Siddipet, Kamareddy, and Bhadradri Kothagudem.
Other districts may receive only light or moderate rain. In Hyderabad, the IMD predicted heavy spells between afternoon and evening. Officials asked residents to stay alert for waterlogging and traffic jams in low-lying areas.
Meteorologists said cloud bursts and active systems over central India triggered these conditions. The pattern may continue for a few more days, bringing scattered showers across the state.
