IMD forecasts heavy rains in Telangana for next three days

Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, has issued a yellow alert across Telangana, forecasting heavy rain over the next three days. The warning also includes possible thunderstorms and strong winds from Sunday through Wednesday.

Heavy rain likely in northern and central Telangana

According to the IMD bulletin, several districts may experience heavy rain on Sunday. These include Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad, Medchal–Malkajgiri, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahbubnagar, Nagarkurnool, and Narayanpet.

On Monday, scattered thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are expected in parts of the state. The weather office said isolated areas could receive intense showers.

More districts to receive rain by Tuesday

By Tuesday, the rain belt is likely to expand. Heavy rainfall is forecast in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri.

Several southern and central districts are also expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall. They include Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad, Medchal–Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahbubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal.

Yellow alert extended till Wednesday

The IMD said heavy rainfall might continue on Wednesday in Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad, Vikarabad, Mahbubnagar, and Nagarkurnool. In view of the forecast, yellow alerts have been issued for the affected districts.
