Heatwave alert issued for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh

Hyderabad: The weather department issued a heatwave alert for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh as temperatures begin to rise sharply across both states.

After a brief spell of cooler conditions, residents are now facing increasing heat and humidity. Consequently, people have started using air conditioners and coolers as summer intensifies.

Meteorological officials warned that temperatures would increase further from Thursday. Therefore, authorities expect severe heat conditions in several districts over the coming days.

Heatwave alert as temperatures rise across districts

In coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions, temperatures are likely to cross 38°C. On Wednesday, Kurnool recorded the highest temperature at 38.5°C.

Meanwhile, the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre predicted temperatures around 40°C in several Telangana districts. These include Mulugu, Bhupalpally, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda and Suryapet.

Accordingly, the department issued an orange alert for these districts and a yellow alert for other regions. Officials advised people to avoid unnecessary travel during afternoon hours.

Furthermore, the department warned that heatwave conditions may begin soon in the region. Therefore, authorities advised elderly people and children to take extra precautions during the intense summer heat.
