Heatwave alert issued in four states; rain likely in MP

HYDERABAD: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued a heatwave alert for four states — Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha. The warning comes as parts of eastern India experience rising temperatures.

In the national capital Delhi, the minimum temperature on Saturday morning was recorded at 15.5°C, which is 2.6 degrees below the seasonal average.

Due to cold winds from the hills, Rajasthan witnessed a significant drop in temperatures, with a fall of 7 degrees recorded on Friday. On Saturday, strong winds are expected across Delhi, Punjab, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, and other northwestern states, which may cause a further dip of up to 3°C in temperature.

In Madhya Pradesh, the beginning of April may bring light rainfall. The IMD has predicted a change in weather across 13 districts in the Bhopal, Indore, Narmadapuram, and Jabalpur divisions. Meanwhile, in Chhattisgarh’s Rajnandgaon, the temperature touched 43°C on Friday.
