Health Minister launches cancer registry, trauma policy on World Health Day

Hyderabad: Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha launched multiple healthcare initiatives, including a cancer registry and trauma care policy, during World Health Day celebrations at Ravindra Bharati.

He declared cancer as a notifiable disease and inaugurated the registry to track cases systematically. The Health Minister said this step would help improve planning and treatment outcomes.

He also launched a comprehensive trauma care policy to strengthen emergency response during road accidents and other emergencies. He said the policy aims to save lives through better coordination and infrastructure.

Health Minister rolls out digital health systems and screening initiatives

Further, he inaugurated the Clinical Establishment Portal to simplify approvals for hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic centres. Meanwhile, he said the system would streamline application processes.

He also launched PCPNDT and surrogacy portals to fully digitise approvals related to IVF centres and surrogacy services. In addition, officials said these platforms would improve transparency.

The Health Minister said the department signed an MoU with AstraZeneca to introduce AI-based lung cancer screening. As a result, 20 government hospitals will offer free screening services.

He said the government is focusing on early detection and expanding access to healthcare. At the same time, he stressed that technology-driven initiatives will strengthen public health systems.
