Hyderabad: Former Minister Harish Rao slammed the Congress-led Telangana government, alleging that the state Secretariat has turned into a protest site rather than an administrative centre. His remarks came after recent demonstrations by contractors and hired vehicle owners over unpaid dues.
Citing the dharnas held inside the Secretariat by small contractors and outside by hired vehicle owners, Rao questioned the governance under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. “Isn’t this clear proof of mismanagement and incompetence?” he asked in a post on X-Vedika on Tuesday.
According to Rao, the government has been clearing payments for major contractors allegedly in exchange for commissions while neglecting smaller service providers. He pointed out that pending vehicle rental bills in Hyderabad have not been cleared for 10 months, while district-level dues have been pending for two years.

He termed it unjust that vehicle owners and small employees are suffering financial hardship due to delayed payments. Rao demanded that the state immediately release all pending bills and address the plight of those dependent on government contracts.
