Harish Rao slams Assembly session over lack of direction

Hyderabad: Former minister and BRS Deputy Floor Leader Harish Rao on Tuesday said the recent Assembly session reflected an Assembly session lack of direction, alleging absence of seriousness and accountability.

Speaking at the Assembly Media Hall, he said people expected clarity on six guarantees and relief on public issues. However, he said the government delivered only disappointment, diversion and disorder.

He alleged that the session was conducted merely to complete formalities. According to him, the government focused on passing the budget and bills while avoiding scrutiny.

Assembly session lack of direction seen in refusal of discussions

Harish Rao said the BRS had submitted notices seeking discussions on 19 public issues. However, he said the government did not take up even one issue during the session.

He claimed the government failed to present any flagship programme confidently in the House. As a result, he said the proceedings reflected an Assembly session lack of direction.

He added that rules, traditions and respect for the opposition were ignored. He also alleged that the government avoided direct answers and resorted to diversion and personal attacks.

Assembly session lack of direction linked to MLA suspension

Harish Rao said the government diverted attention when BRS raised allegations against Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy. He claimed the move aimed to avoid discussion on corruption issues.

He alleged that the suspension of BRS MLAs for two days helped the government pass key bills without opposition presence. Therefore, he said this further reflected an Assembly session lack of direction.

He also accused the government of avoiding debate on Krishna and Godavari water issues despite repeated demands.

Assembly session lack of direction raised over jobs and Kaleshwaram

Harish Rao said the government admitted providing only 16,000 jobs. He said this exposed a gap between promises and actual delivery.

He also criticised Union Minister C.R. Patil’s remarks on the Kaleshwaram project. Rao said the language used was similar to that of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

He alleged this indicated coordination between BJP and Congress against BRS. He rejected claims that massive funds were “washed away” in the project.

Harish Rao said official records from Union and State governments supported Kaleshwaram’s performance. He said these facts countered allegations and reinforced concerns about the Assembly session lack of direction.
