Goshamahal police seize ₹76.87 lakh cash during checks

Hyderabad: In a major cash seizure, Goshamahal police seized ₹76.87 lakh from three persons during routine vehicle checks in the Goshamahal Police Station limits on Monday evening.

The incident occurred on February 9 near Gokul Gold Electric Items shop in Ganbagh Colony. During checks, police noticed three men moving suspiciously on two two-wheelers while carrying bags. Officers stopped them for inspection.

On checking the bags, police found large bundles of cash packed in three separate bags. After counting, officials confirmed the total amount involved in the cash seizure at ₹76,87,650.

Police identified the suspects as Jyothiram, Ganapati Ram, and Mahender. Officers shifted all three to Goshamahal Police Station for questioning.

Cash seizure during routine police checking

During interrogation, the suspects gave inconsistent statements about the source of the money. They also failed to produce any documents to justify possession or transport of such a large amount.

As a result, police seized the entire cash. The Goshamahal Inspector said officials would hand over the seized cash to the Income Tax Department for further verification.

The Inspector warned that police would take strict action against illegal cash movement and said surveillance would continue to prevent similar cash seizure cases.
