Hyderabad: Police began investigating a Golconda infant murder case after a woman allegedly smothered her 14-month-old daughter during a family dispute in Risala Bazar under Golconda police station limits.
According to Inspector Saidulu, Ameer Ali, a resident of Risala Bazar in Golconda, married Umme Aiman in 2023 after they fell in love. The couple later had a baby girl who was 14 months old.
Police said frequent quarrels had occurred in the household in recent months. During one such dispute, Umme Aiman allegedly killed the child by pressing a pillow over the infant’s face.
Family members rushed the baby to a nearby private hospital immediately after the incident. However, doctors confirmed that the child had already died.
Golconda infant murder investigation begins after hospital confirmation
Doctors later shifted the child’s body to Osmania Hospital for postmortem examination. Meanwhile, police began a detailed probe into the Golconda infant murder case.
Officers took the infant’s mother into custody for questioning. Investigators started collecting statements and examining the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police registered a case and continued further investigation into the infant murder.
