Godavari Pushkaram arrangements reviewed by Chief Secretary

Hyderabad: Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao reviewed Godavari Pushkaram arrangements and directed officials to prepare comprehensive plans for next year’s festival.

He chaired a high-level meeting at the Secretariat on Thursday. Senior officials, including Sailaja Ramaiyer and Hanumantha Rao, attended the review.

The Chief Secretary said authorities must ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience for devotees. He stressed the need for large-scale preparations due to the expected surge in pilgrim footfall.

He noted that the Godavari river stretches across multiple districts in the state. The river flows from Kandakurthi in Nizamabad to Basara and Bhadrachalam. Therefore, he called for coordinated arrangements across all locations along the river basin.

Godavari Pushkaram arrangements require coordinated planning

Rao said the Chief Minister had already issued guidelines for the event. Accordingly, he directed officials to prepare detailed proposals and submit them to the Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted for the festival.

He also instructed Engineers-in-Chief and Chief Engineers to review all proposed works. This, he said, would help ensure timely execution and avoid delays in infrastructure readiness.

The Chief Secretary emphasised that effective coordination between departments would remain critical. He said meticulous planning would be necessary to manage the large number of devotees expected during the Godavari Pushkaram.
