GHMC urges taxpayers to utilise OTS property tax scheme

Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan urged property taxpayers to utilise the OTS property tax scheme, which offers a 90% rebate on interest for pending property tax dues.

He said the OTS property tax scheme will remain in force until March 31. Therefore, he appealed to residents to clear pending dues before the deadline.

The commissioner said the CURE area has 28.08 lakh property taxpayers. However, about 16.80 lakh taxpayers have already paid their property tax.

Karnan spoke at a press conference at the GHMC Head Office on Monday. He said property tax collections in the CURE area have increased this financial year. The CURE area includes GHMC, MMC and CMC jurisdictions.

According to the commissioner, property tax collections reached ₹2,186 crore so far this financial year. In comparison, the collection stood at ₹1,984 crore by the same date last financial year.

OTS property tax scheme awareness drive intensified

Karnan said GHMC has expanded digital platforms to simplify tax payments. Taxpayers can pay dues through MeeSeva centres, the GHMC website and Citizen Service Centres. In addition, residents can use the MyGHMC mobile application.

He said these online systems promote transparency and accountability in property tax payments. Moreover, the platforms help citizens complete transactions without visiting offices.

The commissioner also warned that authorities will take strict action against property owners who fail to clear long-pending dues. Such action will be taken under provisions of the GHMC Act.

Apart from tax payments, the MyGHMC application also offers other civic services. Residents can use the platform for property assessment, corrections and related requests. Karnan said GHMC continues to promote technology-driven governance across the city.

OTS property tax scheme push during Praja Palana drive

Karnan also highlighted special drives conducted under the State government’s “99 Days – Praja Palana, Pragathi Pranalika” initiative. Authorities conducted these drives from March 6 to March 16.

Officials organised programmes across six zones, 30 circle offices and 150 wards within GHMC limits. These campaigns focused on sanitation and public awareness.

The commissioner said sanitation remains a top priority across the city. GHMC teams are working to eliminate Garbage Vulnerable Points in multiple locations. In addition, officials conducted a Mega E-Waste Drive across several areas.

Karnan said sanitation efforts will continue during the Praja Palana – Pragathi Pranalika implementation period. The initiative aims to make Greater Hyderabad a cleaner and healthier city.

Meanwhile, GHMC intensified awareness efforts for the OTS property tax scheme. Only 15 days remain before the scheme deadline.

Officials are now conducting awareness campaigns across the CURE area. Publicity has already been displayed at 100 bus shelters across the city. In addition, GHMC has prepared special awareness videos and audio messages.

These messages are being broadcast through cable news channels, FM radio stations and social media platforms. Officials expect the campaign to encourage more taxpayers to utilise the OTS property tax scheme before March 31.
