Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has launched a special drive to remove unauthorised advertisement structures across the city. Commissioner R.V. Karnan announced the move on Saturday, citing it as necessary for public safety and visual order.
The action follows the recent merger of several municipalities into GHMC limits. As a result, officials identified numerous illegal hoardings, banners, and other cluttered displays. These structures violated municipal norms and disrupted traffic visibility, prompting immediate enforcement.
GHMC forms enforcement team for sustained action
GHMC teams have already dismantled several unauthorised hoardings during the first phase of the operation. The drive will continue in a phased and sustained manner across all zones to restore urban discipline and ensure compliance.
To strengthen the crackdown, the corporation is setting up a dedicated enforcement team. This team will monitor locations, remove illegal structures promptly, and initiate legal action under the GHMC Act.
Commissioner Karnan warned that strict penalties would apply to violators. He urged advertisers, agencies, and property owners to follow regulations and avoid placing unauthorised advertisements.
