Hyderabad: GHMC intensifies sanitation in Charminar Zone ahead of Ramzan as Commissioner R V Karnan conducted a detailed field inspection in key high-footfall areas on Wednesday.
Karnan inspected the Charminar Zone along with Additional Commissioner (Sanitation) Ravi Kiran and Zonal Commissioner Srinivas Reddy. The team covered the surroundings of Mecca Masjid, the Madina Building area and the Charminar precincts.
During the inspection, officials reviewed sanitation deployment and route monitoring. They examined road sweeping standards and frequency across commercial stretches. In addition, they assessed garbage lifting operations in market areas and checked cleanliness at major junctions and pedestrian corridors.
Charminar Zone readied for Ramzan footfall
Officials also reviewed drain clearance measures and steps to prevent waste accumulation. Moreover, the Commissioner assessed supervision mechanisms at circle and zonal levels to strengthen accountability in the Charminar Zone.
Ahead of Ramzan, Karnan directed officials to ensure all roads, junctions and congregation points remain consistently clean. He instructed teams to enhance field deployment and implement real-time monitoring in view of the expected surge in public footfall.
Meanwhile, GHMC strengthened ground-level sanitation arrangements in the Charminar Zone to maintain clean and well-managed public spaces. The civic body also urged citizens and traders to cooperate with field staff and uphold civic responsibility during the festive period.
