Hyderabad: The GHMC standing committee on Thursday approved the launch of a Rs 5 breakfast scheme in Indiramma canteens through the Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation, with the corporation bearing the remaining Rs 14 per meal.
The meeting, chaired by Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi at the GHMC headquarters, saw participation from Commissioner R.V. Karnan and standing committee members Bontu Sridevi, Banoth Sujatha, Mahalakshmi Raman Goud, and C.N. Reddy.
The breakfast plan will cost GHMC Rs 15.33 crore annually. Infrastructure includes 60 containers (10×40 ft), 79 containers (10×20 ft), and modifications to 11 existing canteens, with Rs 11.43 crore sanctioned. GHMC will release Rs 3 crore this month, Rs 4 crore in early August, and Rs 4.43 crore in the last week. Water, electricity, and drainage connections at the canteen sites were also approved.
Separately, the committee sanctioned a Rs 5.60 crore tender for repairs and reinforcement of the Saroornagar tank bund. A proposal to widen a 100-ft road from RoB Shastripuram to the IRR near Mehfil Hotel also passed.
In land-related decisions, the panel approved Rs 5.85 crore to build a compound wall around GHMC-owned land in Gajularamaram. Compensation was cleared for 102 affected properties to enable a missing link road from Vanasthalipuram to Old Hayathnagar via Sahebnagar.
Lease extensions of three years each were granted to the Telangana Government Special Protection Force (TGSPF) and the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA) for facilities at Buddha Bhavan.
