GHMC to develop children’s parks in IDH Double Bedroom Colony

Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan directed officials to take up IDH children parks development in the Double Bedroom Housing Colony at Bansilalpet to create a pleasant recreational space for children and improve the living environment.

The Commissioner issued the instructions during an inspection on Tuesday as part of the State government’s “Praja Palana – Pragathi Pranalika” programme. District Collector Dasari Harichandana and Housing Managing Director Gautam accompanied him during the visit to the IDH Double Bedroom Colony and Ambedkar Nagar Colony in the Bansilalpet Division of the Sanathnagar Assembly constituency.

During the inspection, the officials examined four housing blocks constructed earlier under the VAMBAY scheme. Karnan reviewed the condition of the residential premises and emphasised the importance of maintaining hygiene and cleanliness in the housing colony.

He also visited an Anganwadi centre in the colony and interacted with the teacher about the nutritional food being provided to children. The Commissioner advised the staff to increase enrolment at the centre and ensure that children receive quality food on time. In addition, he directed officials to clear unused materials from the premises and keep both the centre and surrounding areas clean.

IDH children parks development planned at two vacant sites

While walking through the colony and interacting with residents, Karnan urged them to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings. He instructed Secunderabad zonal officials to utilise two vacant sites in the colony for IDH children parks development, which will provide a safe and healthy space for children to play.

The Commissioner also inspected the Gandhi Pattan Urban Health Centre during the visit. He directed the medical officer to strictly segregate biomedical waste generated daily at the facility. He further instructed hospital authorities to remove old and unused equipment immediately and maintain cleanliness in the hospital premises and surrounding areas.

As part of the programme, District Collector Dasari Harichandana and the Housing Managing Director also visited Ambedkar Colony in Maredpally. They inspected houses of poor families and enquired about the issues faced by residents.

The Collector advised residents to keep their neighbourhood clean and informed them that the government was examining the possibility of constructing Indiramma houses for eligible poor families in the area.

Secunderabad Zonal Commissioner Mangatayaru, Kavadiguda Circle Deputy Commissioner R. Pushpalatha, Secunderabad RDO Sairam, Tahsildar Pandu Naik and other officials participated in the inspection programme.
