Hyderabad: No dragging feet—sort it fast, said GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan on Monday, as he pulled up officers to act promptly on civic grievances raised at the latest Prajavani session.
The public outreach meet, held at the GHMC head office, drew citizens from various city neighbourhoods. A total of 62 petitions were received on-site, with another 111 logged across six GHMC zones. Karnan reviewed them personally and directed department heads to treat each complaint with urgency and accountability.
“Every complaint needs thorough scrutiny and a quick fix,” he told officials, adding that departments couldn’t afford to pass the buck anymore. Officers were told to own their share of issues and respond without delay.
Breakdown of the petitions at the HQ: 40 hit the Town Planning wing, followed by 6 in the Tax section, 3 under Administration, 2 each in Engineering, Electrical, and Finance & Accounts, while Land Acquisition and Health received one complaint each. Another five came in over the phone.
Zone-wise, Kukatpally topped the list with 37 petitions, followed by Secunderabad with 34. Serilingampally logged 18, Charminar 14, LB Nagar 7, and Khairatabad just one.
Also in the room were Additional Commissioners Venugopal, Chandrakant Reddy, Pankaj, Venugopal Reddy (second), Raghu Prasad, Ashok Samrat, Nalini Padmavati, senior officers from various departments, and Additional CCP Gangadhar Veeranna Pradeep.
