Hyderabad: GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi informed that special measures were underway across Hyderabad to control mosquito breeding as part of a wider monsoon disease prevention initiative.
She reviewed ongoing anti-mosquito operations at Banjara Lake in the Banjara Hills division, where floating debris and horse dung were being cleared. Accompanied by zonal and circle-level GHMC officials, the mayor launched drone spraying operations and larvicide application using LTC machines under the Anti-Larvae Operation (ALO) programme.
Speaking at the site, Vijayalakshmi said the civic body was conducting awareness campaigns alongside intensified sanitation efforts to prevent seasonal diseases. She said fogging and sanitation drives were being conducted in four phases in each ward.
Zonal Commissioner Anurag Jayanti, Deputy Commissioner Sammayya, and Entomology EE Vijay Kumar were also present during the inspection.
