Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said the Gaddar Film Awards reflect Telangana’s commitment to promoting socially relevant cinema.
He added that the state aims to honour cultural voices rooted in the people. At the Gaddar Film Awards celebrations in Hyderabad, he described the event as significant. Moreover, the initiative supports films that shape public discourse.
Paying tribute to Gaddar, he called him a cultural icon. According to him, Gaddar carried Telangana’s spirit onto the global stage. Therefore, instituting the awards in his name marked a clear effort to recognise art that connects with ordinary people.
Gaddar Film Awards revive focus on socially driven cinema
The Deputy Chief Minister said the Telugu film industry reached global standards. In comparison, he said it now stands on par with Hollywood. At the same time, several films addressed key social issues. As a result, these films influenced audiences in a positive way.
In that context, the awards reinforce this direction. He credited Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s leadership for reviving them. Consequently, the move aims to elevate Telugu cinema further.
Earlier, authorities did not present film awards for nearly a decade. On behalf of the government, he thanked actors, filmmakers and technicians. Despite tight schedules, they attended the event in Hyderabad.
Their presence added weight to the occasion. Additionally, he commended the Telangana Film Development Corporation. He also praised jury members for maintaining a transparent selection process.
Importantly, the jury recognised films with strong social themes. Stressing cinema’s influence, he said it shapes public thinking. Furthermore, he added that it drives societal progress.
Finally, he reaffirmed continued government support to the film sector. The state will continue to back initiatives linked to these awards.
