Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said Hyderabad had emerged as a global destination for the film industry while addressing the Gaddar Film Awards 2025 event at HITEX.
At the event, he said presenting the Gaddar Film Awards remained a responsibility of the government. Moreover, he added that the city had moved beyond its image as an IT hub or food destination and now stood as a major centre for cinema.
Highlighting the industry’s legacy, he credited stalwarts N. T. Rama Rao, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, D. Ramanaidu and Krishna. Their contributions, he said, helped elevate Telugu cinema to national prominence.
Gaddar Film Awards underline Hyderabad’s global cinema push
He acknowledged Ramoji Rao’s role in establishing Ramoji Film City. As a result, the facility strengthened Hyderabad’s film ecosystem and expanded production capacity.
Recalling past contributions, the Chief Minister mentioned Prabhakar Reddy’s support for film workers. In addition, he paid tribute to Dasari Narayana Rao for his leadership within the industry.
Looking ahead, he said the government would continue efforts to develop Hyderabad into a global cinema hub. In that context, he pointed to Netflix establishing a presence in the city as a sign of growing international recognition.
Describing Gaddar as a symbol of awareness and inspiration, he said presenting awards in his name carried significance. Therefore, he added that cinema should serve as a medium to spread awareness and drive social change.
The awards ceremony took place at HITEX in Hyderabad with large attendance. During the event, Revanth Reddy attended as chief guest and presented honours to winners.
Alongside him, Deputy Chief Minister Malli Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, MPs, advisors, MLAs and MLCs attended the event. Film personalities, including Chiranjeevi, Kamal Haasan and Nagarjuna, were also present along with Telangana Film Development Corporation chairman Dil Raju and managing director Chekkapriyanka.
