Free spectacles distributed to 176 students at Hyderabad government school

Hyderabad: Free spectacles distribution was carried out for 176 students and staff at the Government High School in Vijay Nagar Colony as part of an initiative to improve eye health among school children.

The programme was organised by the New Town Charitable Trust (NTCT). Hyderabad Collector and District Magistrate Hari Chandana Dasari attended the event as the chief guest and handed over the spectacles to the beneficiaries.

Earlier, NTCT organised two eye screening camps on February 10 and February 18 at the school. During the camps, doctors examined about 300 students. Among them, 161 students were diagnosed with vision problems and later received powered spectacles free of cost.

Addressing the gathering, the Collector advised students to reduce excessive mobile phone usage. She also encouraged them to maintain healthy food habits, including eating green vegetables and protein-rich foods to support better eye health.
