Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar said the department intensified its crackdown on food adulteration to protect public health in the city.
He visited the H-FAST office set up at Begum Bazaar and reviewed its functioning. During the inspection, he examined key facilities, including reception, officers’ rooms, lockups and rest areas. As a result, he assessed operational readiness on the ground.
Officials briefed him on enforcement activities and challenges. Subsequently, he held a meeting with field staff to understand issues affecting operations. He assured that the department would resolve their concerns without delay.
Food adulteration crackdown gains momentum in Hyderabad
Sajjanar said H-FAST teams registered 117 cases across the city since February. They seized about 129.34 tonnes of adulterated food during the period. Therefore, he appreciated the department’s performance.
He said the unit earned recognition at the national level within a short time. He attributed the achievement to coordinated efforts by staff. At the same time, he urged teams to sustain the momentum.
Describing food adulteration as a serious threat, he said it affected public health and life expectancy. He called on personnel to treat the crackdown as a mission and work with commitment.
He directed officials to act strictly against those involved in adulteration. In addition, he asked teams to coordinate with Food Safety authorities and follow a structured plan.
The Commissioner honoured 108 police personnel for their performance. Meanwhile, he cautioned staff against involvement in illegal activities and warned of strict disciplinary action.
He also urged citizens to share information with police to support the drive against food adulteration.
