Hyderabad: At least five persons were injured in a multi-vehicle collision involving nine cars on the Outer Ring Road near Rajendranagar on Monday morning.
Initial reports suggest the pile-up was triggered after the driver of one of the cars applied sudden brakes while speeding. Vehicles trailing closely behind failed to halt in time, resulting in a chain collision.
The crash led to heavy congestion on the stretch, halting traffic movement over a two-kilometre section of the road. Commuters faced long delays as vehicles came to a complete standstill.
Alerted Rajendranagar police and Outer Ring Road personnel reached the spot and removed the damaged vehicles from the carriageway. Traffic flow was restored.
Those injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the sequence of events leading to the collision.
