Five held for Mangalhat murder; three absconding

Hyderabad: Police arrested five men for the murder of Rushab Agarwal alias Sunny Agarwal in Mangalhat and seized three cell phones and two Activa bikes. Three other accused are absconding.

Mangalhat Police arrested Munna Singh, Laddu Singh, Maddur Pranaya Kumar, Thippani Uday Kiran and Kushangal Om Prakash. Aminesh Singh alias Amresh, Kunal Singh and Mamu remain at large in the murder case.

Police registered Crime No. 88/2026 under Sections 103(1) read with 3(5) of the BNS based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother. The incident took place at Aramghar Colony under Mangalhat limits.

Investigators said Munna Singh runs a real estate and finance business at Jummerath Bazar. He allegedly suspected Rushab of maintaining links with a rival gang. Days before the murder, Laddu Singh introduced Rushab to him. During a conversation, Rushab reportedly said he had recently been released from Charlapally jail. He also stated that he had stayed in a barrack associated with a rival faction.

Murder accused confined victim before fatal assault, police say

Police said Munna Singh later summoned Rushab again and confined him in a shed near his residence. He and his associates allegedly assaulted the victim to extract information. Subsequently, they shifted him in an auto to a Ganesh idol-making unit at Aramghar.

At the workshop, the group allegedly beat Rushab with hands, legs and blunt objects. Police said the attack caused severe internal injuries. Rushab died on the spot. The accused later moved the body to another nearby location and fled.

During the investigation, officers examined CCTV footage and identified the suspects involved in the murder. Acting on credible information on February 27 at about 2 pm, police apprehended the five accused. During questioning, they allegedly confessed to their role along with the absconding suspects.

Police seized three cell phones and two Activa bikes at the instance of the accused. Authorities will produce the arrested persons before the court. Teams are continuing efforts to trace the remaining accused in the murder case.
