Hyderabad: As part of an ongoing effort to bolster emergency preparedness, the fire department on Friday carried out a series of mock drills across several high-rise buildings within the GHMC limits. The drills were conducted simultaneously at four major locations across Hyderabad and neighbouring districts.
The sites included the Zonal Commissioner Office in Charminar Zone (Chandrayangutta), Manjeera Phase-II Residential Apartments in Chitra Layout (L.B. Nagar), Ashoka One Mall at Kukatpally Y Junction, and Reliance Sunshine Residential Apartments in Isnapur (Patancheru).
District Fire Officers (DFOs), Additional District Fire Officers (ADFOs), and Station Fire Officers (SFOs), along with their respective teams, supervised and executed the exercises at each location. The drills simulated various emergency scenarios to test the responsiveness, coordination, and readiness of both residents and fire personnel.
Officials said the objective was not only to evaluate the existing fire safety measures but also to familiarise building occupants with evacuation procedures and improve their response times during real emergencies.
These mock drills are part of a broader strategy by the fire department to enhance safety awareness and reinforce fire protocol compliance in high-rise buildings across the GHMC jurisdiction.
