Farmers protest urea shortage in Kodad despite govt claims

Hyderabad: Farmers in Gudibanda village of Kodad mandal staged a protest on Friday night, demanding immediate supply of urea amid mounting crop stress. Despite government assurances of adequate stock, villagers say they have waited in vain many since midnight without receiving even a single bag.

At the Gudibanda Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society (PACS), farmers from seven villages queued through the night. They were angered when only 277 bags arrived, insufficient even for basic distribution.

Farmers protest urea shortage as supply fails to meet demand

With no urea reaching individual farmers, tensions flared. Several said the delay could ruin standing crops. “We waited for hours, but got nothing. What are we supposed to do without fertilizer?” a protesting farmer asked.

Former Kodad MPP Kavitha Reddy backed the protest, accusing the Congress government of failure. She said the state had not ensured timely fertilizer supply and demanded immediate intervention.

“Farmers across villages are standing in queues for hours. The government must stop denying the crisis and act now,” she said.
