HYDERABAD, February 2: In a distressing incident in Rajanna Sircilla district, a destitute family was compelled to spend the night in an ambulance alongside the body of a deceased relative due to the absence of shelter. Santosh, a weaver from the district, succumbed to illness on Saturday evening while receiving treatment at a hospital. Following his demise, the family retrieved his body but faced a dire predicament.
Lacking a permanent residence and residing in a rented house, they found themselves unable to bring the body into their rented accommodation. Consequently, the family, including Santosh’s three daughters and a son, had no option but to remain in the ambulance with the deceased throughout the night.
Upon returning to their native village, the family’s plight continued as they had no home to accommodate the body, forcing them to stay on the open road. Moved by their situation, local philanthropists extended assistance, contributing ₹50 through digital payment platforms.
Responding to the incident, KK Mahender Reddy, the Congress Party in-charge for the Sircilla constituency, assured the family of support. He pledged comprehensive assistance from the government, including the provision of a double-bedroom house. The deceased’s brother lamented the lack of a permanent home, which led to the family enduring such hardship, and appealed to the government to provide them with shelter.
