Hyderabad: A fake doctor stole about 10 tolas of gold jewellery from a woman patient at Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad after allegedly administering a sedative injection and fleeing the ward.

The incident triggered concern among hospital authorities and relatives of patients. The accused woman reportedly entered the hospital posing as a medical professional.

Sudharani, a resident of Old Bowenpally, had been admitted to the hospital due to illness. Doctors had completed treatment and planned to discharge her on Thursday.

However, the fake doctor entered Sudharani’s room wearing a white coat. She then asked the patient’s relatives to step outside on the pretext of carrying out a medical procedure.

After sending the relatives out of the room, the fake doctor allegedly administered a sedative injection to Sudharani. She then removed the jewellery from the patient.

The accused stole nearly 10 tolas of gold ornaments from the patient and left the hospital premises.

Meanwhile, relatives who returned to the room found Sudharani in a sedated condition. They also noticed that the jewellery she had been wearing was missing.

The family immediately informed the hospital management about the incident. However, hospital authorities said the woman did not belong to their staff and that they had no information about her identity.

Subsequently, the victims approached the police and filed a complaint. Police teams reached the hospital and registered a case.

Investigators later examined CCTV footage from cameras installed near the nursing staff room. The footage reportedly captured the movements of the fake doctor.

Police are now trying to identify the accused using the CCTV visuals. At the same time, they are examining whether the woman had any links to hospital staff or if she entered the hospital from outside.
