Hyderabad: Facial recognition-based attendance has been rolled out across all government schools in Telangana starting Friday, covering both teaching and non-teaching staff.
Out of 1,28,760 staff across 24,973 schools, 96,327 personnel (75%) completed registration on day one. Attendance was successfully logged by 89,922 (93.3%) registered staff via the mobile application, while 6,405 staff members had yet to register.
After the introduction of facial recognition, district-wise data showed the highest attendance rates in:
- Adilabad – 2,403 staff – 96.16%
- Sangareddy – 4,464 staff – 95.84%
- Jogulamba Gadwal – 1,785 staff – 95.56%
- Mahbubnagar – 3,043 staff – 95.14%
- Kumuram Bheem Asifabad – 1,782 staff – 95.14%
Attendance exceeded 90% in nearly all districts, including Hyderabad, Kamareddy, Nirmal, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Ranga Reddy, Khammam, Warangal, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, and others.
Peddapalli district reported the lowest participation, with only 1,944 staff recording attendance, just 74.57%, the lowest in the state.
