Hyderabad: The State Task Force of the Prohibition and Excise Department seized 2.622 kg of ganja-laced bhang and arrested six persons during raids in Begumbazar and Dhoolpet on Tuesday.
Acting on specific inputs about sale of bhang prepared with dry ganja during Holi, the STF A team joined personnel from the Prohibition and Excise Station Dhoolpet and carried out raids in both areas. During the drive, officials registered three cases under the NDPS Act.
In the first case, police booked Chintamani Chandan Singh (43) and Sahil Singh (20) of Begumbazar. They seized 860 grams of the banned substance from them.
In the second case, officials arrested Bhagat Raj Nandan Yadav (31) of Begumbazar, Nampally, and Mahesh Chand Sharma (54) of Aghapura, Seetharam Bagh. They seized 812 grams of the contraband.
Six arrested in Holi ganja-laced bhang cases
In the third case, police apprehended Sagar Sharma (41) of Oontwadi, Begumbazar, and Ajay Sharma (43) of Jummerath Bazar. Authorities seized 950 grams of the mixture in this instance.
Altogether, officials confiscated 2.622 kg of bhang prepared with ganja. The department said it intensified enforcement ahead of Holi celebrations to curb narcotic sales.
Officials warned that they would take strict action against those selling banned substances. Investigation into the three cases is continuing.
