Hyderabad: The Congress high command appointed senior leader Errabelli Swarna as the new Mahila Congress president for Telangana.
Accordingly, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) issued official orders confirming the appointment. AICC General Secretary K. C. Venugopal released the notification on Friday.
Errabelli Swarna is a senior Congress leader from the erstwhile Warangal district. Over the years, she held several organisational responsibilities in the party.
Earlier, she served as the Mayor of the Warangal Municipal Corporation between 2005 and 2010.

Meanwhile, when Nannapaneni Rajakumari headed the women’s wing, Swarna worked as the state general secretary.
Later, in 2014, she contested the Assembly elections from Warangal West on a Congress ticket.
She also participated in the Bharat Jodo Yatra and several party campaigns in the state.
In addition, she joined padayatras led by Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka.
Swarna later served as TPCC secretary in 2025. Earlier, she worked as district Congress president from 2023 to 2025.
She has remained active in the Congress party since 1985. Therefore, party leaders said the high command recognised her long-standing commitment while assigning her the key responsibility.
Congress leaders and party cadres welcomed the appointment and expressed happiness over the decision.
