Energy efficiency MoU to drive sustainable building initiatives

The partnership falls under the “Sustaining & Promoting Market Transformation for Energy Efficiency in Buildings in India (SMARTEE-B)” initiative. Therefore, it aims to accelerate improvements in energy use across buildings through new business models and financing approaches.

Under the agreement, TGREDCO and GGGI will jointly design and implement programmes across key sectors. These include demand side management, sustainable cooling, energy-efficient buildings, green SMEs, and e-mobility. Moreover, both organisations will work on developing bankable project pipelines.

The collaboration will also promote innovative financing mechanisms, including ESCO models. In addition, it will strengthen institutional capacity through training programmes and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Officials said the partnership would leverage GGGI’s global expertise and technical support. As a result, it will help accelerate Telangana’s transition towards a low-carbon and energy-efficient growth pathway. This approach aligns with national priorities and international climate commitments.

They added that the initiative would strengthen policy frameworks and promote the adoption of energy-efficient technologies in buildings. Furthermore, it is expected to create new opportunities for green investments and employment in the state.

The MoU will also enable access to global best practices and technical assistance in the energy sector. Therefore, it reinforces Telangana’s commitment to sustainable development and climate action through collaborative partnerships.
