Elephant rampage at Kerala festival injures over 17

Mallapuram, January 8: An elephant went on a rampage during a late-night festival at a mosque in Malappuram district, Kerala, causing injuries to over 17 people. The incident occurred on Tuesday midnight at Puthiyangadi, where festivities were underway.

The festival organisers had brought elephants to the venue as part of the special attractions. During the event, one of the elephants suddenly turned aggressive, making loud noises and charging into the crowd. This caused panic among attendees, resulting in injuries to many. Local reports indicate that two of the injured are in critical condition.

Responding promptly, forest department officials arrived at the scene and managed to subdue and capture the elephant. The injured were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
