Dubbaka municipal tie resolved, BRS wins by draw

Hyderabad: The Dubbaka municipal tie in Siddipet district ended with the BRS securing victory through a lucky draw after both candidates polled equal votes in a closely fought ward.

The incident took place in Ward 3 of Dubbaka municipality. From the beginning of counting, Congress and BRS candidates exchanged slender leads. As a result, tension prevailed at the counting centre. However, when officials completed the final round, both candidates received the same number of votes.

At the request of both contestants, election authorities conducted a recount to eliminate any possibility of error. Officials repeated the exercise twice. Nevertheless, the second recount produced an identical tally, leaving the Dubbaka municipal tie unresolved.

Dubbaka municipal tie resolved through draw after recount deadlock

Since election rules mandate a draw of lots in the event of a tie, officials initiated the prescribed process. Accordingly, they wrote the names of both candidates on separate slips and placed them in a box.

Subsequently, authorities drew one slip in the presence of party representatives. The slip carried the name of the BRS candidate. Therefore, officials declared the BRS nominee as the winner of Ward 3.

The unusual finish drew attention in Siddipet district, as the Dubbaka municipal tie ultimately hinged on chance rather than a vote margin.
