Divakar TS flags ‘Eat Right Walk’ in Mulugu, urges focus on healthy food

Hyderabad: Mulugu District Collector Divakar TS said people were neglecting health while focusing on income and warned that outside food habits were causing illness.

He flagged off the ‘Eat Right Walk’ awareness programme at the government hospital in Mulugu district headquarters. The event formed part of the 99-day Praja Palana Pragati programme.

Divakar TS said officials would conduct week-long activities to promote awareness on healthy food practices. He urged people to participate and understand steps needed to protect their health.

He said consuming quality food would prevent diseases. However, he noted that many people were falling sick due to excessive consumption of outside food sold for taste.

Further, he expressed concern that even children were facing serious diseases like cancer. Therefore, he advised people to maintain cleanliness in both food habits and personal hygiene.

Meanwhile, he said food safety officials recently inspected several hotels in the district and issued warnings. In addition, authorities scheduled a meeting with hotel owners to discuss hygiene and food quality standards.

He said officials would hold the meeting at 3 pm on Monday to ensure compliance. At the same time, he urged everyone to follow cleanliness and consume safe food.

Additional Collector CH Mahender, DMHO Gopal Rao, DCH Jagadeeshwar, DRDO Srinivas, and DPO Venkayya attended the programme. CHC Medical Officer Suresh, Municipal Commissioner Ramesh, and other officials also took part.

Women’s groups, ANMs, ASHA workers, and local representatives participated in the awareness drive.
