Hyderabad: District Election Officer and GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan on Saturday directed Sector Officers, Supervisors, and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to strictly comply with the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) guidelines during the Jubilee Hills Assembly bye-election.
The directive came during a training session held at Banjara (Adivasi) Bhavan, Banjara Hills. Karnan stressed that election staff must uphold integrity, discipline, and coordination to ensure the smooth conduct of polling.
“All instructions issued by the Election Commission must be followed without exception,” the Commissioner said. He warned officials to remain alert against inducements, misconduct, and procedural violations.
Karnan asked BLOs to complete their tasks within deadlines, maintain regular reporting, and consult senior officers in case of uncertainty. He also instructed staff not to be absent from duty without prior approval.
A detailed presentation outlining roles and responsibilities was delivered during the session, attended by Additional Commissioner Hemant Keshav Patil, Returning Officer P. Sairam, Chief Horticulture Officer Sunanda, and other election personnel.
ECI guidelines to be followed during nomination process
Later, DEO R.V. Karnan visited the Returning Officer’s office to review preparedness for the Jubilee Hills nomination process, scheduled to begin on October 13. He held discussions with Returning Officer P. Sairam and Assistant RO on ensuring smooth and lawful handling of nominations.
Karnan instructed that the process must comply fully with ECI norms and that all on-ground arrangements be completed in time.
