Damodar Raja Narasimha distributes mini tractors to farmers

Hyderabad: State Medical and Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha distributed subsidised mini tractors to farmers under a state initiative to expand farm mechanisation and strengthen rural incomes.

The distribution took place on Thursday at the district collectorate complex. The programme formed part of the Praja Palana – Pragati Pranalika initiative.

During the event, the minister handed over mini tractors supplied through the horticulture mechanisation scheme. Three SC and ST farmers received the vehicles.

Each tractor carried a capacity of 20 horsepower. The machines were valued at ₹4.9 lakh each. However, the government provided them with a 60 per cent subsidy.

Officials said the scheme aimed to support small and marginal farmers. As a result, farmers could access modern machinery and reduce cultivation costs.

Speaking at the programme, Damodar Raja Narasimha said mechanisation remained essential for agriculture and horticulture development. Moreover, he said the government introduced several welfare schemes for farmers.

He urged farmers to adopt modern cultivation practices. At the same time, he asked them to make greater use of farm machinery.

According to the minister, such measures could lower farming expenses. In addition, they could help farmers improve productivity.

He further said the government treated farmers’ economic progress as a priority. Therefore, it would continue supporting them through targeted welfare programmes.

Medical and Health Department Secretary Christina Z Chongthu also attended the event. District Collector P Praveenya, District Horticulture Officer Someswara Rao and DRDO Jyothi were present as well.

Several district officials and beneficiary farmers participated in the programme.
