Hyderabad: A sub-inspector attached to Jagadgirigutta Police Station in Cyberabad was apprehended on Saturday by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹15,000.
According to officials, the accused officer, K. Shankar, was caught around 2:15 p.m. by ACB’s City Range Unit-1. He reportedly solicited the bribe through an associate, identified as Nagender, a resident of Jagadgirigutta. The money was purportedly demanded to facilitate the release of a vehicle and DJ sound system seized in an earlier case.
The bribe amount was recovered from Nagender, whose fingers tested positive in a chemical analysis conducted during the trap operation.
Both individuals were taken into custody and presented before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally. The investigation into the case remains ongoing.
Citizens are urged to report demands for bribes by public servants to the ACB’s toll-free helpline at 1064. Complaints can also be lodged through WhatsApp (9440446106), Facebook (Telangana ACB), or X (formerly Twitter) via @TelanganaACB. Authorities have assured that the identity of complainants will be kept confidential.
