Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police unveiled a structured student mobility initiative aimed at reducing congestion and digitising school commutes across Cyberabad, with rollout scheduled for June 2026.
The project, spearheaded under the leadership of Commissioner Dr M Ramesh, will operate through the Society for Cyberabad Security Council. Officials said the plan seeks to replace unregulated private vehicle drop-offs with a coordinated, demand-based transport network.
Under the framework, authorities will aggregate transport demand from educational institutions and deploy structured fleets. As a result, the initiative aims to ease peak-hour congestion around schools and colleges. In addition, the system will integrate public transport services such as RTC with verified private fleets to build a city-wide mobility grid.
Cyberabad Police to digitise student commutes under SCSC framework
The programme draws inspiration from global transport models including Transport for London. However, officials said the design has been tailored to local traffic and safety needs.
To strengthen oversight, Cyberabad Police will verify fleets, integrate CCTV systems and enable real-time monitoring through the Command and Control Centre. Consequently, authorities expect improved accountability and enhanced passenger safety.
Moreover, the initiative will engage verified gig workers and community members as mobility supervisors. Officials said this component will generate local employment while maintaining supervisory checks.
The department described the plan as part of a broader digital public infrastructure push. Accordingly, officials positioned the project as a technology-led reform to streamline urban mobility and improve road discipline among student commuters.
The first phase of implementation will begin in June 2026 across identified corridors in Cyberabad limits.
